Black Caucus “Tired” of Obama Neglecting Black People

Congresswoman Maxine Waters a Democrat from California stated recently that the Black Caucus is “tired” of President Obama neglecting the plight of Black people.  She cited his poverty bus tour that did not go to any Black communities which are especially hit hard by the economic recession affecting the country.

“We want to  unleash on him, but we are waiting on you the voters to tell us to do so.  You love him so much because he is the 1st Black President that you do not like us to criticize  him.  We want to give him every opportunity, but we are getting tired.  We don’t know what his strategy is.’

At a job fair in Atlanta which had a line which was miles long, Waters said there is a growing frustration and anger in our community.  “The high unemployment in our community is unconscionable.  There are wide spread foreclosures widening the gap between Black and white wealth in this country. “The President is going to have to fight and fight hard,” she said.

John Conyers, Democrat from Michigan said ” We have gotten nothing from him.  We want him to come  out on our side and advocate,” said Conyers.

Anger and frustration as grown to the point where TV Host Tavis Smiley and Professor Cornel West have gone on their own “poverty tour” to cast attention on the plight of the poor.  It is to be noted that ‘poor’ people are never mentioned by Obama when he speaks of economic recovery.  It is always the plight of the “middle-class” that he speaks of.

It is as if  poor people do not exist.  At the rate the country is going with the safety nets destroyed, such as the recent Food Stamp debacle in Atlanta, where Food Stamp and Medicaid recepients were cut off without notice and mothers with hungry children were seen demanding their benefits, it appears the writing is on the wall.
